Who is SNEBA?

The Southeastern New England Baptist Association is the cradle of Baptist work in America. Roger Williams established the First Baptist Church in America at the Providence Plantation shortly before March 1639.  Our association encompasses the five counties of Rhode Island:
  • Providence
  • Kent
  • Bristol
  • Washington
  • Newport
As well as two large counties in Eastern Connecticut:
  • Windham
  • New London

We are associated with the Baptist Convention of New England and the Southern Baptist Convention.

Passing on the Faith to the New Generation

The Context of Our Mission: Presently, SNEBA consists of twelve churches and thirteen missions scattered throughout our territory. We are home to the second largest city in New England, Providence, with well over one half million residents.  The entire SBC presence in this important city consists of one small Hispanic mission, one small Cambodian mission, and one small Anglo mission.
Living and Teaching the Faith: The love and hope found in Christ demand that we strengthen our already existing congregations and that new ones be started.  The best way to pass on the faith is to seek, evangelize, disciple , and gather people into churches.  Love leaves no other choice!

Developing Relevant Churches for Today's World

We seek to start all kinds of churches according to the need, such as traditional, contemporary, house, and cell.  The churches will reflect the ethnic, cultural and linguistic background of the people in our association.  we will strive to train those in our churches called by God to serve in fulfilling the Great Commission as found in Matthew 28.
